Job Description

Full-Time and Part-Time People-Loving Registered Dietitians (RDs) with Hearts of Gold wanted for a growing private nutrition practice in Oregon Portland

• Salem We are seeking up to three passionate, kind, and empathetic Registered Dietitians to join our private practice — full-time or part-time, in Portland and Salem. As a part of our team, you will be responsible for providing medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling services to our patients in order to ensure optimal health and nutrition. What we are looking for:

An RD who is seeking a full-time or part-time position in general focus private practice who sees patients for both preventative and medical nutrition counseling. Candidate must be able to work evenings and weekends. Must be desiring to learn and grow. Interest in psychology and human behavior is a bonus, not a requirement. We love and welcome new dietitians too. Our supportive and growth-focused environment is the perfect place for any dietitian out of college who is looking for meaningful work to both grow and contribute. Private practice is different. It is not clinical and it is not community nutrition, and we have learned that how long someone has been a dietitian matters far less than whether private practice is a fit. If you have private practice experience, wonderful — we will take that into account. If you do not, that is not a barrier to joining our team at Southwest Dietitian Group (SDG). We will train you. What we cannot train is kindness, big-hearted-ness, and the willingness to own your role in a way that benefits the organization, our community included, as a whole. Southwest Dietitian Group is a growing private practice which means our ideal candidate is flexible in a fast-changing environment.

Location:

These are in-person (in-office) positions in the state of Oregon. We are hiring one to two dietitians in Portland and one dietitian in Salem. Please tell us which location you are applying for. Full-time or part-time Part-time at SDG is exactly half: half the patient hours, half the pay scale, half the benefits. It is a real position on the same ladder including the same career path, same specialty training opportunities, same annual movement up the scale. A part-time dietitian here is a full member of the team. Saturdays are the one thing that does not halve: both full-time and part-time work two Saturdays a month, part-time for fewer hours. Patient follow-ups need that continuity. About Southwest Dietitian Group Southwest Dietitian Group (SDG) opened their doors to their first patient in January of 2022, in Gilbert, Arizona. Southwest Dietitian Group is an insurance-based private practice with an emphasis on habit and behavior change.

Our Big Promise:

Provide patients and clients the tools for sustainable change in a supportive and nonjudgmental space with knowledgeable and personable people. Southwest Dietitian Group | Portland & Salem, Oregon | Maya@SDG.care | 1

Our Mission:

To help our client get - and stay - healthy. What We Are Built On These four things drive our actions and our decision making. 1. Kindness. It is the first thing we hire for and the last thing we will compromise on. Patients walk in carrying things they have not told anyone. Kindness is not a soft skill here. It is the work. 2. Community. We would be nowhere without a strong patient community, and ours is growing fast — challenges, meet ups, accountability groups, our online Connection Space. Our patients are asking us for more of it. Building that community is part of everyone's job here, including how we show up for each other. 3. Science. Evidence-based nutrition and root-cause thinking. Real assessment, real protocols, real reasoning. Not opinions, not Instagram nutrition. 4. Sustainable Change. Results for life. Anything that only works while someone is watching is not a result. We help our patients get healthy and stay healthy.

What this means for you:

You like to continue to research and learn. You value and provide evidence- based nutrition. You value sustainable change. You want a long-term career. You like root cause analysis thinking. You are naturally kind, caring, and intuitive. You have a big heart. You take self-responsibility. You enjoy self-growth. You are flexible. You value open communication. How We Operate and Pay You Months 0 through 6: onboarding, training, and credentialing Your first six months are your onboarding period. During this time, we get you contracted and credentialed with insurance companies, train you in how we practice, and start you with cash-pay patients. Contracting and credentialing genuinely takes about six months. We do it the right way, we cannot speed it up, and we plan around it. During this period you are a part-time employee paid $2,000 per month. At month six, if we both believe this is a good fit, you move onto the pay scale below at the schedule we have agreed on — full-time or part-time. Our pay scales We publish the whole ladder because you should be able to see the path before you take the first step. Movement up the scale is annual and tied to a meets-expectations review, and it works the same way whether you are full-time or part-time. In your 30-, 60-, and 90-day reviews we look closely and we correct early. Year with SDG Full-Time Part-Time Year 1 $79,800 $39,900 Year 2 $85,500 $42,750 Year 3 $91,200 $45,600 Year 4 $96,900 $48,450 Year 5 and beyond $102,600+ $51,300+ Years 4 and beyond apply to dietitians who advance into a specialty or shared responsibility path. Southwest Dietitian Group | Portland & Salem, Oregon | Maya@SDG.care | 2 Our Business Model & Profit Share Goal On top of your salary, we are building toward monthly profit share distributions for dietitians who take on a shared responsibility. How it works : When there is healthy profit on top of our foundational financial obligations, that profit gets distributed to the team. A strong month distributes more. A slow month distributes less. What never changes is your salary. Profit share sits on top of it. Part-time dietitians receive a half share.

Who is eligible:

six months with SDG, meets expectations at your 30/60/90/180 day reviews, and a shared responsibility you have taken on. Shared responsibilities are posted internally as they open, and they range from owning a piece of our social media to owning a program. SDG is being built to run together. As the company makes more money, the owner doesn't pocket it all. The team makes more, and that flows back into our patient community and what they need. We are not distributing yet. We are telling you where we actually are. We carry no debt. We are loan free. We keep savings. That is the foundation this gets built on, and getting there is a stated company goal. The Career Path Inside SDG Years 1 and 2 are your foundation years. Learn the practice, learn our patients, get good. After year one, we invest in specialty training should you want it: Functional Nutrition (IFM or IFNA): for the dietitian whose brain lights up over root cause, labs, and protocol building. National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC): our health coaching arm, with emphasis on our GLP-1 program and functional nutrition follow-ups. For full-time dietitians, SDG pays the full cost of that training. For part-time dietitians, SDG pays half and you cover the remainder. Some of us live in the science. Some of us are natural coaches. Most of us love both and lean one way. Both are real careers here, both are needed, and neither is the lesser path. Shared Specialty and Management Level Responsibility (optional). These open at six months with SDG and range from owning a piece of our social media to owning a program or a function of the business such as marketing, SEO, website, bookkeeping, hiring, reviews, audits, events, contracting, credentialing, licensing, continuity building, our patient community, and more. It is genuine ownership of a genuine function, and it is what makes you eligible for profit share. Note that should a dietitian choose not to advance into any path (functional, coaching, or shared management responsibility) pay scale pay caps at Year 3 ($91,200 full-time, $45,600 part-time). That is okay and welcomed here. Therefore, with this model comes great responsibility from all of us. We Are Not Employees. We Are Partners. This is the part we would ask you to read twice. We do not think of ourselves as employees at SDG. We think of ourselves as partners who run SDG. There is no one of us who is higher or lower than another in role, not the dietitians, not the office manager, not the owner. Without any one of us, this SDG would not work. That includes our patients. What we are building is a practice 'owned' by the people inside it: shared decision-making, transparent pay, shared responsibility for how the business runs, and shared profit when it does well. Southwest Dietitian Group | Portland & Salem, Oregon | Maya@SDG.care | 3I own this practice outright. No investors, no silent partners, and no intention of selling it. What I want is a company owned in the real sense by the dietitians inside it. You do not have to arrive with that mindset fully formed. But you do have to want it. -Maya Nahra, RD, LD, Owner The commitment we ask for Getting you credentialed with insurance panels takes about six months and a significant amount of work before you ever see an insured patient. Specialty training in functional nutrition or health coaching is an investment we make in you, and it is not cheap. So when you join our team, we ask for a two-year commitment. If you go through specialty training, we ask for an additional three-year commitment from the completion of that training. These are the same for full-time and part-time dietitians because the credentialing work behind you is identical either way. Responsibilities Performing nutrition assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring and evaluation for patients Learn to develop individualized nutrition care plans based on a comprehensive assessment of patient needs Provide medical nutrition therapy and nutritional counseling services to meet patient goals Educate patients on proper nutrition, including menu planning and healthy eating habits Evaluate client's progress, revising their plan and goals as indicated per individual needs Solutioning with the patient to navigate their challenges and obstacles Offer additional solutions to patient problems and obstacles as needed Manage full patient/client caseload including scheduling client follow-up sessions Coordination of Care between referring providers and a patient's care team Create and maintain notes to standard requirements for audits and compliance Read and integrate provider treatment plans and labs for shared patients Follow and help build our shared standards of care as they develop Stay current on patient-facing emails, events, and challenges so your care continues what patients are already receiving Show up for our patient community — challenges, meet ups, events, and accountability groups Participate in our GLP-1 program as it grows and as your training supports it Maintain and model professional boundaries Good manager of self and time Take responsibility for self and role Stay informed on the latest advances in nutrition and food science Maintaining credentials and continuing education through Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics One MNT/functional nutrition protocol per year with presentation to RDs — the same for full-time and part-time License / Certification Registered Dietitian with a bachelor's degree/master's degree in dietetics. Successful completion of a dietetic internship approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Must have passed the registration examination for dietitians. Must be able to present proof of current Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) card. Southwest Dietitian Group | Portland & Salem, Oregon | Maya@SDG.care | 4 Benefits Benefits begin at month six. Part-time positions receive half of the below.
