Job Description

Overview We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Registered Nurse to join our leadership team as a Traveling Interim DON. This role provides on-site nursing leadership during transitions, rapid-turnaround needs, regulatory situations, or emergent vacancies. The ideal candidate thrives in change, communicates clearly, and can quickly assess and stabilize clinical systems in a skilled nursing environment. Duties Serve as the acting Director of Nursing during interim assignments. Provide leadership and oversight to ensure high-quality resident care. Assess facility systems, workflows, compliance status, and staffing needs. Lead survey readiness, regulatory compliance, and corrective action planning. Maintain communication with the Administrator and Regional Nurse Consultant. Ensure adherence to CMS and state-specific regulations. Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of nursing department leaders. Implement strong clinical standards, audits, QAPI, and quality measure systems. Model professionalism, accountability, and problem solving. Experience Active RN license (state-specific or multistate compact). 2-3 years of DON or ADON-level leadership required. Strong knowledge of CMS regulations and survey processes. Ability to travel regionally with short notice. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
