Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Responds to survey process, annually and as needed, and possesses comprehensive working knowledge of all state and federal regulations. Instruct staff through inserting in demonstrating techniques and methods of resident care services, and in instruction of resident needs. Responsible for the overall coordination of work schedules for the nursing staff. Exercises leadership abilities, as well as skill in working with staff. Sets goals for team members. Monitors the assigned duties of professional nurses and other staff members. Supervises and evaluates work performance. Participates in the interview process of applicants and submits recommendations to Administration and Human Resources before the individual is employed. Coordinates and presides at the Continuous Quality Improvement meeting. Participates in the integration of the activities of the various disciplines into a comprehensive resident care program. Identifies and studies nursing service problems and assists in the development of a workable solution. Supervises maintenance of records of nursing and medical treatments and related services executed by nurses. Provides general supervision guidance and assistance for residents in implementing the residents, personal health program to assure that preventative measures, treatments, medications, diet and other health services prescribed are properly carried out and recorded. Interfaces with Medical Director and attending physicians as needed, in regards to resident assessment and diagnosis of residents. Fulfills other job duties as requested by supervisor.

Demonstrates and practices standards of conduct in the areas of quality of care, human resources, compliance with laws, communication, and confidentiality. Observes and practices Infection Control and Standard Precautions in accordance with BNRC Campus standards. Observes and promptly reports equipment safety hazards or defective/malfunctioning equipment or supplies. Demonstrates knowledge of fire drill and all other emergency preparedness plans. Demonstrates sensitivity to issues of fraud and abuse.

Observes and promptly reports equipment safety hazards or defective/malfunctioning equipment or supplies. Demonstrates knowledge of fire drill and all other emergency preparedness plans. Adheres to the policies and procedures set forth in the Personnel Handbook. Qualifications:
Education:
Graduation from accredited school of nursing; current registration with State Board of Nurse Examiners; prefer B.S. Degree in Nursing or Health Care from accredited college. Has two years of experience or education in nursing service administration.
Experience:
Needs a combination of clinical expertise, management ability and interpersonal skills, personal attributes and human relations (such as charisma, flexibility, and the ability to give of oneself). Must possess skills in working with government agencies and financial acumen, and specific abilities related to long term care and management
Physical Demands:
Must have good general health and demonstrate emotional stability, have flexibility, function independently, have personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with others. Finger and hand dexterity to handle and manipulate instruments and equipment. Visual and aural acuity to detect changes in resident's condition.
Job Knowledge:
Solid knowledge base of rules and regulations governing OIG. Overall proficiency in assessment of risk management and ability to maintain control of clinical exposure of same. Comprehensive knowledge of general and geriatric nursing theory and practice, including drugs, biological, physical, social and medical sciences, and their application for better understanding of resident care problems. Thorough knowledge of principles used in Inservice instruction of nursing and auxiliary personnel. Familiarity with organization and functions of all departments with policies, procedures, and regulations of nursing home. Knowledge of literature and new developments in nursing field, especially in gerontology.
Clinical:
Expertise in resident assessment, nursing diagnosis, experience and competency in performing technical skills.
Management:
Proficiency in setting and meeting goals, ability to select and allocate resources, capability in selecting and directing personnel. Must possess capability to plan for the future.
Personal Attributes:
Must possess the ability to counsel residents and families, as well as the ability to learn and grow. Must have the ability to inspire loyalty and cooperation.
Special Demands:
Must have a genuine interest in geriatric nursing. Willingness to work with the realization that errors and incompetence may have serious consequences for residents. Recognizes and understands the cultural backgrounds, spiritual needs, and respects the religious beliefs of residents, their families and visitors. Realizes the effects of social, economic, and other problems upon residents , their families and visitors. Must possess ability to maintain good working relationship among staff supervised and possess initiative and good judgment in determining needs of department. Normal working hours may vary to insure adequate supervision of all shifts. Also realizes that facility operates 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year., which means that services are always required, despite inclement weather. Understands the nature of work involved and realizes that population has certain immediate and special needs. May be called at odd hours for emergency situations.

$98,000.00 - $122,000.00 per year
