Job Description
Company Overview Spring Valley Living is dedicated to providing exceptional housing and care services to our residents, tenants, and outpatients. With a committed team of around 100 nursing staff and professionals, we focus on delivering high-quality experiences rooted in dignity and respect for those we serve. We are seeking a Director of Nursing Services for our skilled nursing facility. The primary purpose of the DON is to ensure the provision of quality nursing care on a 24-hour basis to our residents in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines. Job duties may include but are not limited to: Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing service department, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the nursing care facilities. Develop nursing service objectives, policies and procedures, and direct the implementation of these objectives Continuously monitor federal and state guidelines and requirements, and revise departmental procedures accordingly Develop, maintain, and periodically update written job descriptions for each level of nursing personnel in accordance with pertinent laws and regulations Develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing quality assurance program for the nursing service department. Develop and implement educational programs for patient cares Shares responsibility for backing up RN staff on a 24-hour, 7 day per week basis Oversees clinical operations Assures that there is compliance with the regulations pertaining to Nursing Home care Make daily rounds of the nursing service department to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards. Maintain employee morale and motivation levels Oversee administrative functions in nursing department Participate in facility surveys made by authorized government agencies Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc. as necessary Review complaints or grievances made by department personnel Responsible for government reporting Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the facility's procedures on accidents/incidents Develop, implement, and maintain an effective orientation program Develop and implement procedures that ensure nursing service supplies are used in an efficient manner to avoid waste. Develop and implement procedures for the safe operation of all nursing service equipment Ensure that census is updated in real time for any changes Review and revise care plans and assessments as necessary, but at least quarterly. Develop and maintain a good rapport with all services involved with the care plan to ensure that a team effort is achieved in developing a comprehensive plan of care. Assist the Quality Assessment & Assurance Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies. Report and investigate all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property. Participate in any other area deemed necessary by the CEO. Qualifications Must have at a minimum a current and active license to practice as an RN in the State of Minnesota. Previous leadership and/or LTC experience preferred. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and families. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
