Master's Level Counseling Intern (Play Therapy Focus) Wellspace Play Therapy Wellspace Play Therapy is seeking a compassionate, motivated Master's Level Intern to join our growing private practice in 2 locations. Madison, Al and Town Creek, Al This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and families in a supportive, play therapy-centered environment. About the Role The intern will provide therapy services to clients using play-based and developmentally appropriate interventions , while receiving supervision and ongoing support. This position includes working with clients utilizing BCBS (Blue Cross Blue Shield) insurance , offering valuable experience in documentation, treatment planning, and insurance-based care. Responsibilities Provide individual therapy sessions for children and adolescents using play therapy approaches Support parent sessions, including psychoeducation and caregiver collaboration Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to each client's needs Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation (progress notes, treatment plans) Collaborate with caregivers, schools, and other professionals as appropriate Participate in supervision and case consultations What You'll Gain Hands-on experience in play therapy interventions Exposure to working with insurance-based clients (BCBS) Supervision and mentorship in a private practice setting Opportunities to build confidence working with children, teens, and families Training in integrating approaches such as CBT within play therapy Qualifications Currently enrolled in a Master's program in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field Interest in working with children, adolescents, and families Strong interpersonal and communication skills Willingness to learn and apply play therapy techniques Ability to work independently while receiving feedback and supervision Preferred (but not required) Previous experience working with children or in school/community settings Interest in play therapy, child development, or family systems Schedule & Location Flexible scheduling based on internship requirements In-person sessions required Join Wellspace Play Therapy and be part of a collaborative, heart-centered environment dedicated to helping children and families grow, heal, and thrive.
