Job Description

Under the guidance of the CEO, the Wellness Director is responsible for guiding members in the pursuit of improved well-being, by delivering health and wellness options that will support them on their wellness journey. The Director will build a team to best deliver those options, including personal training, innovative programming, group fitness for all levels and ages, on-boarding and retention of members, outreach in the local community and healthy living engagements. The Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Wellness Center. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordinating and conducting member orientations as part of the YMCA's member engagement process, addressing member complaints, resolving problems, maintaining cleanliness of the Wellness Center and assisting in preventative maintenance of equipment. Additionally, the Wellness Director will assist with day-to-day operations of the YMCA as needed, attend and assist with fundraisers and special events, and assist with the Annual Support Campaign. The Wellness Director must be willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of members, including some nights and weekends.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field OR a minimum of 10 years fitness/wellness experience. Minimum of one year experience supervising wellness, group exercise, and personal training programs preferred. CPR, First Aid, AED certification within 30 days of hire. Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and develop staff. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to conduct group fitness classes. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Team oriented.
