Day Job Summary:
The Director of Health Information Management (DHIM) reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will maintain hospital medical records and process requests for release of medical information according to established policies and procedures. The DHIM will analyze information and prepare appropriate reports. The DHIM will also be required to accurately transcribe medical and departmental documents as necessary. The DHIM will serve as the HIPAA Privacy and Security Officer (CHPS). The DHIM is responsible for completing all duties as assigned.Job Requirements:
Education:
- Associate's Degree in Health Information Management required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of ten (10) years' supervisory/management experience in Health Information Management required.
- A minimum of three (3) years' HIPAA Privacy and Security management experience required. Required Licensure/Certification(s):
- AHIMA Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required.
- AHIMA Certification as a HIPAA Privacy and Security Officer preferred.
