Technicians and gain ALARNG membership, all current federal employees, all U.S. Citizens Duties Help (1) Provides assistance in the administrion of the JFHQ-S Occupional Health/Industrial Hygiene (OH/IH) programs to include, but not limited to, various duties in support of the Medical Surveillance, Respirory Protection, Industrial Hygiene, Hearing Conservion, Vision Conservion, and Bloodborne Phogen Programs. Assists in the scheduling and coordinion of occupional health reled physical examinions for military/civilian personnel (e.g. pre-placement/baseline, periodic, terminion/retirement exams) and screenings such as vital signs (i.e., blood pressure, temperure, pulse, and respirions), vision screening, audiometric testing, pulmonary function tests (PFT), and height and weight measurements. (2) Ensures all full-time employees assigned to hazardous noise positions are enrolled in the Installion Hearing Conservion Program for testing and monitoring. Ensures all military/civilian personnel who are occupionally exposed to hazardous noise or ototoxic environments receive baseline, 90-day, annual, and terminion audiograms in accordance with Hearing Conservion Program regulions and directives. (3) Administers the JFHQ-S Department of Defense (DoD) Occupional Environmental Health Readiness System-Hearing Conservion (DOEHRS-HC) Program. Obtains and maintains

Bi-Annual Compliance Reports. Performs system backup and uploads informion to the

repository as required. Performs and coordines biological calibrion checks (e.g., daily) of
DOEHRS-HC
system and ensures results are within acceptable range in accordance with federal regulions and standards. (4) Ensures military/civilian personnel receive Hearing Conservion Program services and training to meet hearing protection requirements (e.g., earplugs, noise muffs, ear canal caps, noise-tenuing helmets, or a combinion of protection) to minimize hearing loss. Ensures individualized hearing protection is provided to all military/civilian employees assigned to hazardous noise areas. (5) Coordines and/or conducts noise surveys of all suspected noise-hazard areas, vehicles, and equipment as directed by regulion and law using Type 2 or greer sound level meters which meet American Nional Standards Institute (ANSI) requirements. Ensures annual hazard assessments of noise hazardous areas, or potentially noise hazardous areas, are conducted IAW federal regulions and standards. (6) Ensures vision screenings are conducted IAW the Army Vision Conservion and Readiness Program (VCRP). Assesses whether or not personnel meet visual criteria for their particular job. Provides guidance to military/civilian personnel needing professional eye care (e.g. contact their personal physician for follow-up and/or trement). Ensures vision screening and/or eye exams are performed on all employees working in eye hazardous areas requiring safety eyewear. Records medical findings and files copy of safety eyewear prescriptions in the employee medical record. (7) Performs/coordines calibrion of medical screening equipment; operes and maintains OH/IH field and laborory instruments and other medical equipment needed to determine health risks. (8) Performs a variety of special tasks, such as portions of occupional health/industrial hygiene investigions or surveys as directed by the OHN. Performs conventional OH/IH surveys of limited scope and variety (e.g., ventilion studies, air monitoring, light surveys, laborory and work-site sampling, analysis of organic and inorganic merial and physical phenomena, reviews and maintains records; interviews employees; takes photographs). Uses various sampling equipment and techniques; ensures proper analysis of test results. Presents findings to the OHN. (9) Maintains and inputs OH/IH da into required federal/military dabase systems (e.g., U.S. Army Center for Health Promotion & Preventive Medicine (USHCHPPM), DOEHRS-HC and Health Hazard Informion Management System (HHIMS)). Uses microcomputers, da processing operions, software, spreadsheets, word processing, stistical and mapping packages to analyze da and presention software (e.g., Excel, Word, Power Point). Serves as a technical resource to other staff members on OH/IH computer-reled issues. (10) Assists the OHN with implemention of comprehensive OH/IH Programs to include initial and on-going medical evaluions, hazard assessments, control measures, hearing and vision conservion, and employee training and educion. (11) Contacts employees during studies/surveys/investigions to observe and assess working operions and conditions and promotes effective OH/IH practices. (12) Attaches personal Dosimetry and monitoring equipment to workers to assess hazardous or potentially hazardous situions. (13) Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
  • -Knowledge of occupional health regulions and industrial hygiene standards, concepts, procedures, policies, and practices to perform independent inspections necessary to control or elimine hazardous environmental conditions and potential health hazards in industrial hygiene settings.
  • -Knowledge to determine which conventional alternive methods, approaches or techniques to apply to resolve an identified problem.
  • -Knowledge in the use of equipment for audiometric and pulmonary function testing, vision screening and the ability to explain the purpose and results to employees, recording and interpreting results, and determining need for referral.
  • -Knowledge of anomy and physiology reling to the presence of common occupional health illness and injuries. Knowledge and skill in instructing employees in the proper use and care of personal protective equipment to include hearing protection, eye protection, and respirory protection.
  • -Knowledge of medical terminology and skilled in recording specific informion in the client's medical record.
  • -Knowledge of the anomy of the ear and skilled in the proper techniques for fitting a variety of hearing protection devices.
  • -Knowledge of calibrion and use of a wide variety of industrial hygiene sampling instrumention; ability to select approprie sampling equipment and techniques to determine the nure and degree of hazards.
  • -Knowledge of functions of various computer software and informion processing methodology/technology, and processing techniques.
  • -Knowledge of medical records administrion and management skills and abilities.
Educion
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
Gradue educion or an internship meets the specialized experience required above GS-5 only in those instances where it is directly reled to the work of the position. One full year of gradue educion meets the requirements for GS-7. Two full years of gradue educion or a master's degree meets the requirements for GS-9. One year of full-time gradue educion is considered to be the number of credit hours th the school tended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If th informion cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as sisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time gradue educion is creditable in accordance with its relionship to a year of full-time study the school tended. You must provide transcripts or other documention to support your Educional claims.
