Job Description

Corpus Christi Medical Center is hosting a Residency Hiring Event for new and recent graduate nurses eager to begin their careers in a collaborative, patient-centered environment. Residents will provide direct patient care under the guidance of experienced preceptors, participate in structured clinical training and classroom education, and rotate through key specialty areas such as emergency, med-surg, ICU, and women's services. This program supports professional growth with mentoring, skills labs, evidence-based practice exposure, and opportunities for long-term placement across our Corpus Christi campuses. Responsibilities Deliver compassionate, evidence-based direct patient care under RN residency guidelines Collaborate with preceptors, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams on patient treatment plans Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record Rotate through designated clinical units to build broad clinical competence Participate in didactic training, skills labs, and simulation sessions Follow hospital policies, safety standards, and infection prevention protocols Communicate effectively with patients and families to support education and discharge planning Engage in performance feedback, mentoring, and professional development activities Required Skills Patient assessment and vital signs monitoring Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation Medication administration and dosage calculation Basic life support and emergency response skills IV therapy and phlebotomy basics Wound care and post-operative care techniques Infection prevention and control practices Care planning and nursing process application Clinical communication and handoff reporting Time management in acute-care settings
