About the Position A private real estate developer and general contractor is seeking an experienced Owner's Construction Field Representative / Site Coordinator to provide local field oversight for one renovation and development project in Palm Springs. This is not a traditional office-based project management position . We are looking for an experienced construction professional who can serve as the owner's eyes and ears in the field: visiting active jobsites, monitoring subcontractor progress, identifying potential problems, documenting work, coordinating access and deliveries, and communicating clearly with ownership. Major financial, design, and construction decisions will continue to be made by ownership. The ideal candidate does not need to run the entire project independently, but must have enough construction experience to recognize when work appears incorrect, incomplete, out of sequence, or inconsistent with the plans. This could be an excellent fit for an experienced superintendent, assistant superintendent, foreman, construction manager, or other seasoned construction professional who wants a flexible local position without the demands of running an entire project. Responsibilities Visit active Palm Springs jobsite regularly and monitor construction progress. Verify which subcontractors and workers are onsite and what work is being performed. Review work against architectural and construction drawings. Identify potential workmanship, sequencing, coordination, or installation issues before they become larger problems. Provide detailed photographs and videos of construction progress. Prepare concise site-visit reports documenting work completed, outstanding issues and upcoming work. Coordinate subcontractor access, inspections, deliveries and site logistics. Follow up with subcontractors regarding scheduling and completion of outstanding work. Verify measurements, locations and installations when requested by ownership. Immediately identify conditions requiring owner, architect, engineer or consultant review. Maintain organized documentation of jobsite conditions and progress. Assist with punch lists and verification of completed corrective work. Communicate regularly with ownership, including phone calls, text, email, photos and FaceTime/video when appropriate. What This Position Is NOT This person will not be expected to independently make major design, financial or construction changes. When an important issue is discovered, we want someone who will document it clearly, provide the relevant information and contact ownership before the contractor proceeds . We value good judgment more than unnecessary autonomy. Ideal Background Minimum 7-10 years of meaningful construction field experience preferred. Experience as a superintendent, assistant superintendent, construction manager, foreman or similar field position strongly preferred. Commercial renovation and/or hospitality construction experience is helpful. Ability to read and understand architectural and engineering drawings. Strong understanding of basic construction sequencing and trade coordination. Ability to recognize questionable workmanship or installations. Extremely dependable and punctual. Strong organizational and communication skills. Comfortable using an iPhone or similar smartphone to take detailed photos/videos and communicate remotely. Comfortable sending concise written field reports. Able to communicate professionally with subcontractors while representing ownership. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and ability to travel to Palm Springs Spanish language skills are helpful but not required. Who We Think Will Succeed in This Role We are less concerned with job titles and more interested in practical construction experience, reliability and judgment. Experienced superintendents, contractors or field professionals who are transitioning away from running large projects but still enjoy being involved in construction are encouraged to apply. The right person should be able to walk through a construction site and naturally notice things that warrant further investigation. Schedule This is a part-time position averaging approximately 10-20 hours per week , depending on project activity. A minimum of 10 paid hours per week is guaranteed . The schedule will vary based on active construction, subcontractor schedules, inspections and project milestones. Availability during normal weekday construction hours is important. Some weeks may require additional hours during particularly active phases of construction, inspections or project turnover. Compensation $35-$45 per hour , depending upon construction experience and qualifications. Mileage between assigned project locations may be reimbursed. Initial Trial Period Because this is a field-based position, selected candidates should expect an initial paid working evaluation followed by a probationary period. During the evaluation, candidates may be asked to walk an active project, identify potential issues and prepare a sample field report.
