The right candidate will have a strong understanding of dentistry and be confident reviewing and interpreting dental X-rays, understanding the patient's clinical needs, helping develop comprehensive treatment plans with the doctor, and presenting treatment options to patients based on their X-rays, diagnosis, medical history, and individual goals. The ideal candidate understands dentistry, can read and understand X-rays, understands treatment planning, and can confidently communicate clinical information to patients. Required Dental experience with the ability to read and understand dental X-rays Ability to understand dental diagnoses and identify treatment needs from X-rays and clinical findings Ability to work with the doctor to develop and organize comprehensive treatment plans Ability to confidently present treatment plans and multiple treatment options to patients based on their clinical needs Strong understanding of dental procedures, terminology, treatment sequencing, and expected outcomes Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — both in-person and over the phone Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Positive, proactive, empathetic approach to patient care Ability to explain dental terminology and procedures in a way patients can easily understand Comfort discussing financial information, treatment costs, financing, and payment options with professionalism and confidence Ability to educate patients without being pushy or sales-focused Genuine desire to help patients achieve the best possible outcome for their individual situation Preferred Experience in dental treatment coordination, dental administration, or a clinical dental role EFDA certification or experience preferred Experience presenting comprehensive dental treatment plans Experience working with digital X-rays and dental practice management software Experience coordinating larger or complex treatment cases Experience discussing comprehensive restorative, implant, cosmetic, or full-mouth treatment Leadership or supervisory experience The Ideal Candidate You may be a great fit for this position if you: Can look at a dental X-ray and understand what you are seeing Can understand the doctor's diagnosis and translate it into a treatment plan patients can understand Understand how different treatment options can affect a patient's health, function, appearance, comfort, and quality of life Are comfortable discussing crowns, bridges, implants, root canals, extractions, periodontal treatment, restorative dentistry, dentures, full-mouth rehabilitation, and other common dental procedures Can confidently explain what treatment is needed, why it is needed, what the patient's options are, the differences between those options, and what the next steps should be Can explain complex dental concepts in a way that makes sense to someone who has no dental background Listen carefully to understand what matters most to each patient Enjoy educating patients and helping them make informed decisions about their care Are comfortable discussing treatment costs and financial options Understand that finances can be a significant barrier to care and enjoy helping patients find realistic ways to move forward Have strong leadership skills and enjoy helping a team succeed Take initiative rather than waiting to be told what needs to be done Are comfortable using technology and adapting to a highly integrated software environment Are confident, warm, articulate, and able to build trust quickly Understand that excellent treatment coordination requires both clinical knowledge and genuine human connection Our Philosophy At Novak Dental, we don't believe in selling dentistry.
