Unified Technology Solutions

Business Technology Specialist Tier 2 IT Support

Job Description

We are seeking a customer-focused Business Technology Specialist to provide responsive, practical technology support to clients across multiple independent business environments. In this role, you will troubleshoot hardware, software, Microsoft 365, network, security, backup, and application issues remotely and on-site, helping users stay productive and ensuring their technology operates reliably. The ideal candidate combines strong technical fundamentals with excellent communication, documentation, organization, and customer service skills. You should be comfortable moving between different client environments, adapting to different configurations and business requirements, managing multiple requests, explaining technical concepts in plain language, and working both independently and collaboratively. This is an in-person, office-based position . Employees report to the Unified Technology Solutions office in Vero Beach each workday and travel to client locations as needed. Key Responsibilities Respond courteously and promptly to support requests received by telephone, email, ticketing systems, and other approved support channels. Diagnose and resolve end-user hardware, software, application, connectivity, account, authentication, and peripheral issues. Provide remote and on-site support for Windows desktops, laptops, applications, printers, mobile devices, and related equipment. Support Apple macOS systems used in client environments. Support Microsoft 365 users and services, including Outlook, Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Perform routine Microsoft 365 administration such as user and mailbox support, shared mailbox and permission changes, distribution groups, aliases, license assignment, and basic mail-flow or message-trace troubleshooting. Support Active Directory user accounts, groups, permissions, password issues, workstation domain membership, and related Windows domain services. Troubleshoot common identity and authentication issues, including multifactor authentication. Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID is preferred but not required. Use the company's remote monitoring and management (RMM), professional services automation (PSA), remote-support, ticketing, documentation, knowledge-base, and vendor-support platforms to manage client systems and service requests. Monitor and respond to workstation, server, endpoint-security, patching, backup, and system-health alerts within assigned responsibilities. Verify backup status, troubleshoot failed backup jobs, perform basic file or system restores when appropriate, and escalate suspected backup-integrity or disaster-recovery issues. Recognize and appropriately respond to common security issues such as phishing, malware, suspicious authentication activity, compromised accounts, endpoint-security alerts, and other potential incidents, escalating when appropriate. Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade software, hardware, operating systems, business applications, printers, and peripherals. Configure systems, applications, user accounts, file shares, backups, mobile devices, and related services. Troubleshoot common network issues involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPNs, firewalls, VLANs, Ethernet switching, wireless access points, and Wi-Fi connectivity. Assist with deploying, replacing, and troubleshooting network equipment and with designing network systems that meet clients' operational and technical needs. Drive to client locations and safely transport the computers, tools, and other equipment required for on-site service. Accurately document each service request, including client and contact information, reported issue, troubleshooting performed, time spent, billable activity, actions taken, and final resolution. Prioritize and schedule service requests based on urgency, business impact, service commitments, and available resources. Escalate complex, security-sensitive, or unresolved issues when appropriate and provide sufficient documentation for efficient handoff. Perform preventive maintenance and routine health checks on workstations, servers, printers, peripherals, backups, and supported network equipment. Research software updates, drivers, technical documentation, vendor resources, known issues, and other information needed for problem resolution. Learn and support unfamiliar hardware, software, and line-of-business applications used by different clients rather than relying only on experience with specific products. Test completed work to confirm that issues have been fully resolved and that changes have not introduced new problems. Follow up with clients after resolution when appropriate to verify satisfaction and system performance. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience preferred. Two or more years of IT help desk, customer support, desktop support, field-service, managed-services, or related technical-support experience preferred. Experience supporting multiple customer or business environments is strongly preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong working knowledge of Windows PC hardware, Windows operating systems, common business software, and desktop troubleshooting. Experience supporting Microsoft 365 applications and services in a business environment. Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 tenant administration and Exchange Online support. Experience administering Active Directory in a Windows domain environment. Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, cloud identity, and multifactor authentication is preferred. Experience supporting Apple macOS in business environments is preferred. Experience supporting mobile devices, including iOS/iPadOS and Android, particularly Microsoft 365 and authentication applications. Understanding of networking concepts and services including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPNs, VLANs, switching, Wi-Fi, wireless access points, and basic firewall troubleshooting. Experience using RMM, PSA, help-desk/ticketing, remote-support, documentation, and endpoint-management tools in a support environment. Understanding of basic backup and recovery concepts, including backup monitoring, failed-job troubleshooting, and file restoration. Understanding of basic cybersecurity practices including MFA, phishing recognition, endpoint protection, patching, least privilege, account compromise, and security-incident escalation. Familiarity with PC diagnostic and troubleshooting utilities. Ability to troubleshoot unfamiliar applications and technologies using logical diagnostics, documentation, knowledge bases, and vendor resources. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong documentation and time-management skills, including accurate tracking of billable work and service activity. Ability to explain technical information in clear, user-friendly language. Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to prioritize and complete tasks effectively in a fast-paced, multi-client environment. Ability to maintain context and organization while switching among clients with different networks, policies, applications, and configurations. Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working with limited supervision. Strong customer service skills and a professional demeanor in both remote and on-site interactions. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Employment Requirements Employment is contingent upon passing a State and National Fingerprint-Based Criminal History Record Check. The successful candidate must obtain CJIS certification within three months of employment. Valid driver's license required. A reliable personal vehicle is required for travel to client locations and for transporting computers, tools, and other job-related equipment. Employees using a personal vehicle for business travel must maintain legally required automobile insurance. Ability to report to the Unified Technology Solutions office in Vero Beach each workday.
