Billing Manager Position Overview:
The Physical Therapy Benefit Coordinator will be responsible for verifying patient insurance benefits, obtaining authorizations for treatments, communicating with insurance companies, and handling insurance appeals. This role ensures that patients have accurate and up-to-date information regarding their benefits while ensuring that Seaview Physical Therapy receives appropriate reimbursement for services provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Insurance Verification:
Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits, including co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket maximums for physical therapy services.
Authorization Requests:
Submit and track prior authorization requests for physical therapy services, ensuring timely and accurate approval for treatments.
Insurance Communication:
Make outgoing calls to insurance companies to obtain necessary information, verify eligibility, and resolve any discrepancies related to patient coverage.
Appeals Management:
Manage the appeals process for denied claims by gathering required documentation and submitting appeal letters to insurance companies. Work closely with billing and administrative teams to address issues.
Patient Communication:
Communicate with patients to inform them of their benefits, discuss insurance-related questions, and provide updates on the status of authorizations and appeals.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of patient benefit information, authorization approvals, and appeals outcomes.
Collaboration:
Work closely with physical therapists, office staff, and billing department to ensure seamless patient care and billing processes.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or a degree in healthcare administration, billing, or related field preferred. Previous experience in insurance verification, billing, or benefit coordination in a healthcare setting is preferred. Strong understanding of insurance processes, including verification, authorizations, and appeals. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with insurance companies, patients, and internal teams. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. Proficiency with insurance billing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Experience in physical therapy or healthcare setting. Familiarity with various insurance providers and plans. Knowledge of medical terminology and coding. Ability to resolve complex insurance issues independently.
Working Conditions:
Full-time position with standard office hours. Occasional flexibility required for urgent insurance-related matters.
