Job Description
Job Summary As a Health Information Management Administrator 3, you would manage the day-to-day operations of a medical records program; plan, implement, and maintain systems for acquiring and preserving individuals' medical records; supervise and train subordinate staff in facility medical records and health information management departments; and participate in the development of computer applications for medical records information. The Health Information Management Administrator 3 oversees the day-to-day operations of both the Health Information Management and Utilization Review departments. Responsibilities - The incumbent ensures and is responsible for: Manage and maintain patient health records and information systems. Ensuring accuracy and completeness of the health record. Have an understanding of medical coding. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and data privacy laws. Develop and implement health information management policies and procedures. Serves as the facilities Compliance Officer by staying current on privacy laws and regulations. Ensures policies and practices protect sensitive patient information. Oversees the auditing process for ensuring health records are accurate, complete, and meet quality standards. Train staff on proper health information handling and security protocols. Collaborate with treatment team members, IT, and compliance teams. Respond to information requests. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in health records. Prepare reports on health information management/utilization review activities. Stay current with changes in healthcare legislation and technology. Requirements Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they have current certification by the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA); and two years of full-time professional (post-RHIA) health information management experience. Candidates from within State Service can be considered transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Pay:
$82,326.00 - $104,230.00 per yearBenefits:
