Full Job Description Job Purpose:
The Patient Access Coordinator at Brazos Valley Community Action Agency Inc is responsible for ensuring efficient and effective patient access to healthcare services. This role involves managing patient registration, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers to enhance patient satisfaction and streamline healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate patient registration and appointment scheduling to ensure timely access to healthcare services. Verify and update patient insurance information, ensuring accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations. Serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers, facilitating clear and effective communication. Address patient inquiries and resolve issues related to access, billing, and insurance in a professional manner. Maintain patient records and documentation with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality. Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to optimize patient flow and service delivery. Monitor and report on patient access metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions. Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to patient access and service delivery.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree in healthcare administration or a related field is preferred.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in patient access or registration. Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and patient management software. Demonstrated experience in customer service, with a focus on patient interaction.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks efficiently. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally. Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
