Description Summary:
Responsible for performing hearing screenings on newborns and recording results in the patient's chart. Tracks data, maintains equipment, and orders supplies as appropriate.
Responsibilities:
Perform newborn hearing screenings for the nursery and NICU
Hearing screenings must be performed within the first 48 hours of birth
Tech must follow all hospital rules and guidelines and be team players in the unit
Tech will provide emotional and mental support to the parents, especially if the newborn has an abnormal hearing screening
Tech should be extremely careful while taking care of the babies and performing the hearing screenings
Tech will maintain all required registries and necessary reporting, and will arrange for appropriate referrals as hearing screenings necessitate
Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma
BLS certification required.
