Teaching Full Job Description Overview:
Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special needs. In this rewarding role, you will provide compassionate, personalized support to help individuals achieve greater independence, enhance their quality of life, and participate actively in their communities. Responsibilities:
Assist individuals with daily living activities (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, feeding, and mobility to promote independence and dignity. Implement behavior management strategies tailored to each individual's needs, supporting positive behaviors and reducing challenging behaviors. Support communication using various methods, including American Sign Language (ASL), verbal cues, and visual aids to ensure effective understanding and expression. Collect data on progress, behaviors, and activities to monitor development and inform care plans. Administer medications as directed by healthcare professionals following proper protocols to ensure safety, if applicable. Transport clients safely to appointments, community outings, or recreational activities while maintaining a secure environment. Document daily interactions, progress notes, and incident reports accurately to maintain comprehensive records of care provided.
Qualifications:
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or behavioral health needs is highly preferred. Knowledge of special education principles and behavior management techniques is beneficial. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn is a plus for effective communication. Prior experience in home or community care settings, including Supported Living Services, caregiving, or providing assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), is preferred. Strong communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients and team members. Valid driver's license, auto insurance, reliable personal vehicle, and clean driving record for safe transportation duties. Ability to handle sensitive situations with patience, empathy, and professionalism.
