Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and professional Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with diverse needs. The Direct Support Professional will assist with activities of daily living, promote independence, and help maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment. The ideal candidate is patient, responsible, attentive to detail, and committed to providing person-centered care. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the individuals we serve while working as part of a professional and supportive care team. Responsibilities Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, hygiene, dressing, and other daily needs. Prepare and serve meals in accordance with established meal plans, dietary requirements, and food-safety standards.. Administer medications in accordance with applicable regulations, physician orders, and individualized care plans, and accurately document medication administration. Provide appropriate supervision and support while encouraging independence, dignity, and personal choice. Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning routines and organization of living spaces. Plan and participate in appropriate recreational, social, and community-based activities based on individual interests, abilities, and care goals. Follow all safety protocols including first aid, CPR certification requirements, and emergency response procedures. Qualifications Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is highly preferred, but not required. Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and dementia or Alzheimer's care is essential. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or intellectual disabilities is advantageous. Strong communication skills for engaging effectively with clients, families, and team members while maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA standards. Certification in CPR and first aid preferred but not required. Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed in a dynamic caregiving environment.
