Direct Support Professional (DSP) About Rolling Hills Progress Center Rolling Hills Progress Center is a private nonprofit organization that has served our community since 1975. We provide quality outsource contracting services to customers throughout the United States while creating meaningful vocational, educational, and social opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities. We believe every person has the potential to learn, grow, contribute to their community, and experience the fulfillment that comes from productive work. Our Direct Support Professionals play an essential role in helping the individuals we serve develop skills, build confidence, and achieve greater independence. Position Summary Rolling Hills Progress Center is seeking a dependable and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide hands-on training, encouragement, and support to adults with developmental disabilities. The DSP assists individuals with vocational and academic skills, personal care, socialization, recreational activities, and daily work assignments. The ideal candidate is patient, attentive, safety-conscious, and committed to helping others succeed. Primary Responsibilities Provide training, guidance, and encouragement in vocational, academic, personal hygiene, social, and recreational activities. Assist individuals with completing daily work assignments and learning new job skills. Implement individualized active-treatment programs and accurately document progress. Complete daily logs, outcome data sheets, accident reports, and other required documentation in a clear, concise, and timely manner. Observe individuals and report routine concerns, unusual events, changes in behavior, or potential health and safety issues. Promote a safe, respectful, and positive environment. Ensure individuals follow established safety procedures. Support individuals in developing independence, confidence, and appropriate workplace behaviors. Assist with emergency procedures and evacuations when necessary. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Functional reading, writing, and communication skills. Ability to complete required DSP training in accordance with Illinois regulations. Ability to maintain acceptable status under the Illinois Health Care Worker Background Check Act. Dependable, patient, compassionate, and able to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities. Ability to remain calm and emotionally stable when responding to stressful or unexpected situations. Ability to complete required documentation accurately and legibly. Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is helpful but not required. Training will be provided. Physical Requirements While performing this job, the employee must be able to: Regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds. Frequently lift or move up to 35 pounds. Occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. Frequently stand, walk, reach, and use their hands to handle objects or provide assistance. Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, or crawl. Possess the vision and depth perception needed to safely perform job duties. Hear, communicate, and respond appropriately to individuals, coworkers, and emergency situations. Assist individuals during emergency evacuations. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Work Location This is an in-person position at Rolling Hills Progress Center in Lanark, Illinois. Remote work is not available.
