Job Description
Job Overview Mentoring With Magic Home Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team on weekends only. This vital role involves providing high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, cognitive impairments, and age-related conditions. As a DSP, you will create a safe, engaging, and respectful environment that promotes independence and enhances the quality of life for those we serve. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents while working only weekend hours. We are offering with the position that if you complete 36 hours between Saturday and Sunday each week, we will pay for a full time 40 hour week. With this specific case, you must be able to complete changing of adult male diapers, transferring, and showering duties. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts. Provide specialized care for individuals with autism, implementing behavior management strategies to promote comfort and safety. Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and nutrition management while maintaining a clean and safe environment. Operate standard passenger cars for transportation needs, ensuring safe patient lifting practices during outings or appointments. Engage residents in recreational activities that foster socialization, independence, and personal growth within a home or community setting. Follow all safety protocols including first aid, CPR certification requirements, and emergency response procedures to ensure resident safety at all times. Qualifications Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or residential care homes is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of dementia care, memory care, geriatrics, and home & community care environments. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments is essential. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle manual tasks such as resident transfers using proper techniques. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications related to medication administration or behavior management are a plus. Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration. Reliable transportation skills for safe operation of passenger vehicles during scheduled outings or appointments.
