Personal Care Assistant (PCA) — 3rd Shift The Oaks of Alamance

About Us The Oaks of Alamance is an assisted living and memory care community in Burlington, NC. We're part of The Affordable Senior Housing Foundation, and we're building a team that takes real pride in how our residents are cared for. About the Role We're hiring part-time Personal Care Assistants for third shift, 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, every other weekend. You'll provide hands-on daily care to residents in our assisted living and memory care units, working alongside medication aides and a supervisor on every shift. This is a good fit if you want steady part-time hours, you're dependable, and you'd rather work somewhere your name is known than somewhere you're a number. What You'll Do Assist residents with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility Assist with transfers and repositioning, including safe use of mobility equipment Assist residents with getting them up and ready for breakfast Complete all assigned showers Make beds and manage resident laundry and linens Clean wheelchairs and mobility equipment Ensure residents receive their snacks Assist residents during meal service, including transfers and keeping walkways clear of wheelchairs and walkers Complete two-hour rounds and respond promptly to call lights Reposition and turn residents according to care plans Assist residents who wake during the night, including redirection in memory care Launder, fold, and stock resident linens and towels Restock hall supplies — briefs, gloves, wipes, and personal care items Set up the dining room for breakfast service Sanitize call buttons, handrails, and high-touch surfaces Complete safety rounds — secure exterior doors, keep exits and hallways clear Submit work orders for maintenance issues found during rounds Keep noise to a minimum overnight out of respect for residents' rest Communicate resident updates clearly at shift change Complete two-hour check sheets, assignment sheets, and end-of-day documentation accurately and on time Complete skin assessments and all charting in black ink Report changes in resident condition to your supervisor or the Resident Care Coordinator promptly Maintain resident privacy and dignity, and follow all HIPAA requirements Keep resident areas clean, safe, and free of hazards Other duties as assigned Schedule Third shift, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM Every other weekend Part-time, consistent scheduling — we build the schedule in advance and stick to it What We're Looking For Required Prior experience as a PCA, CNA, caregiver, or in a similar direct-care role Reliable transportation to and from Burlington, NC Ability to lift, transfer, and assist residents safely Dependability — showing up on time, every scheduled shift, matters here Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and required health screenings as mandated for North Carolina adult care homes Must meet all state training and registry requirements for personal care aides in an adult care home Preferred Current CPR certification (we provide training if you don't have it) Experience in memory care or dementia care Nurse Aide I listing on the NC registry Physical Requirements Ability to lift and transfer residents, including assistance up to 50 lbs Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for the majority of an 8-hour shift Ability to respond quickly in an emergency Reports To Reports to the Resident Care Coordinator and shift supervisor. What We're Not Looking For This role is not a fit for someone looking for a quiet overnight shift. Third shift here is active — rounds, care, and prep work throughout.
