JOB OVERVIEW
The Laboratory Assistant I will perform basic laboratory and record-keeping tasks. This role will support the functions of the in-life, necropsy and/or formulation/analytical groups.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform laboratory support activities, including glassware cleaning/sterilization, laboratory set-up and clean-up, sample processing and archiving, preparation of basic solutions, and operation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment. Support animal care and research operations by preparing cages and equipment for animal arrivals, performing basic husbandry duties, handling and transferring small- to medium-sized animals, and recording basic observations and measurements as assigned. Maintain laboratory organization and compliance by monitoring temperatures, managing inventory and supplies, generating reports and documentation, assisting with clerical tasks, and ensuring all work is performed in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice Regulations (GLPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Transport laboratory materials, supplies, and equipment between facilities using company vehicles (truck, golf cart, or car) as needed. The pay range for this position is $20-21 per hour. Please note that pay rates vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.).
Certification/Licensure:
Must have valid, state-issued, driver's license.
Experience:
None required.
Other:
Must be detail-oriented and have general familiarity with lab procedures. Good verbal communication skills required. Basic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
PHYSICAL/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to regularly lift, carry, move, manipulate, and/or hold animals, equipment, supplies, and other materials weighing up to 50 pounds, and push wheeled carts up to 1,200 pounds over distances of 1-100 feet. Requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, stair climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and working in confined spaces. Must be able to move throughout the facility to access equipment, supplies, work areas, and other buildings; operate computers, office equipment, and laboratory instruments; wear required PPE in accordance with OSHA and company standards; maintain close and color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment; and communicate effectively to exchange accurate information.
COMMENTS
This position requires overtime, weekend, holiday, and/or after hours shift coverage as needed.
