A Laboratory Technician performs routine tests on samples of body fluids, tissues, and other substances for diagnostic and research purposes. Works under the supervision of a medical laboratory technologist in a laboratory or healthcare facility.
Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:00 PM Training typically lasts 4-12 weeks , with approximately 6-8 weeks being most common . After training is completed, the position will transition to a swing-shift schedule between 2nd and 3rd shift . Candidates must be willing and able to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required. Job Summary We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to support quality and food safety operations within a manufacturing environment. The Lab Technician is responsible for helping ensure product quality throughout the manufacturing process and prior to product release. This position performs analytical and sensory testing using established laboratory procedures and standardized testing methods. Key Responsibilities Perform analytical and sensory testing on in-process and finished products. Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) accurately and efficiently. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and HACCP requirements. Record, interpret, and enter laboratory test results accurately into required forms and LIMS software. Identify inconsistencies or unusual test results and escalate concerns to appropriate personnel. Receive, handle, label, and store laboratory samples according to established procedures. Maintain laboratory equipment and assist with troubleshooting and corrective actions when necessary. Complete equipment, instrument, standard, and testing verifications to ensure accurate performance. Handle and store chemicals, fluids, and compressed gases according to required safety procedures. Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation. Compare test results against established product specifications. Maintain retained product samples when required. Monitor laboratory testing supplies and notify management when materials need to be reordered. Participate in proficiency and collaborative testing. Communicate with production, quality, and other departments regarding testing and product results. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional laboratory work area. Work independently as well as collaboratively with team members across departments. Assist with training other team members as needed. Follow all environmental, health, food safety, and workplace safety procedures. Perform additional laboratory and quality-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Ability to read, write, and speak English. Basic arithmetic skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks while remaining organized. Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications. Ability to learn laboratory instruments and associated software. Reliable and consistent attendance. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree in an applied science or related field. Previous analytical laboratory experience. Previous quality-control or manufacturing laboratory experience. Experience with LIMS systems. Familiarity with GMP, GLP, HACCP, or food-manufacturing environments. Physical Requirements Candidates must be able to: Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Bend, kneel, and climb stairs. Work at heights when required. Repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs . Safely handle laboratory chemicals and compressed gas cylinders. Perform physical laboratory duties throughout the shift. Work Environment This position operates within a manufacturing and laboratory environment. Employees may be exposed to chemicals, food ingredients, and potential food allergens as part of normal job duties. Safety, product quality, and food safety are critical components of this position. Compensation $21.50 per hour This is expected to be a long-term assignment lasting at least 12 months , based on business needs and performance.
