Job Description

Job Title:
Specimen Processor Job Description As a Specimen Processor, you will be responsible for reviewing specimen packages, including dried blood, urine, and saliva, ensuring that all information is complete and accurately routing specimens to their respective destinations within the company. Your role will involve receiving and opening specimen packages, attaching necessary paperwork and samples, and reviewing requisitions for completeness in patient and billing information. You'll also be tasked with logging patient information into company software, scanning documents, and routing requisitions and payments to the appropriate department for processing. Responsibilities Review specimen packages for complete information. Route specimens to the appropriate destination within the company. Receive and open specimen packages daily. Attach relevant paperwork and samples to specimens. Review requisitions for complete patient and billing information. Accession laboratory specimens and deliver them to the lab for testing. Log patient information accurately from requisition forms into company software. Scan documents and route requisitions and payments for processing. Work collaboratively with coworkers to identify, label, and enter information into the computer. Essential Skills Specimen processing and handling of human samples. Proficiency in data entry with strong typing skills (45+ WPM & 90%+ accuracy). Basic computer literacy, including troubleshooting and navigating multiple applications. Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion. Good communication skills, flexibility, and adaptability. Attention to detail and adherence to safety guidelines for handling hazardous materials. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Experience with specimen processing and/or handling human specimens preferred. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs. Work Environment The work environment consists of a Monday to Friday schedule from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch or 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with a 60-minute lunch. The role involves working in a collaborative team setting while requiring independent work. The position is relatively sedentary and involves wearing personal protective equipment when handling human specimens. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Beaverton, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
