About this role Responsible for providing operational support for multiple shop and lab facilities in the department. Performs preventative maintenance for systems, inventory control, material and supplies ordering, and storage and handling of hazardous materials. What a day of a Trade and Industry Lab Technician looks like: Controls and disposes of hazardous materials within a lab environment. Utilizes technical expertise to identify and purchase appropriate equipment, tools, supplies, and materials for the assigned programs. Monitors preventative maintenance schedules for equipment, machines, and facilities. Inspects equipment and machinery for safe operation. Reports any observed problems to supervisor. Maintains records for performance, out-of-service, and in-service facilities, plants, and equipment. Coordinates, installs, repairs, and maintains machinery and equipment, and fabricates metal parts and tools. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment consistent with equipment recommendations. Responds to complex inquiries from all levels of employees or external sources regarding a variety of questions, such as clarification of College or campus policy and procedures. Assists with preparing activity and incident reports. Acquires knowledge of other staff duties and serves as a backup as necessary. Maintains and reviews inventory records. Includes all related reporting. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. We'd love to hear from you if you have the following:
Education and Experience:
Associate's degree and one year of related experience; OR High school diploma or GED and three years of related experienceKnowledge of:
Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications Applicable OSHA regulations and safety procedures Best practices in trade and industry labs and shops Skilled in: Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management Ability to: Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service.Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
Valid Florida driver's license Requires travel between campus locations Preferred, but not a must:Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
OSHA certification Earned industry-recognized trades credentialWork Environment and Physical Demand:
