accredited. Position summary The Laboratory Assistant - Sample Preparation supports daily sample intake, preparation, documentation, laboratory housekeeping, and inventory activities. This is an entry-level, hands-on position suited to someone who is careful, dependable, comfortable following written procedures, and interested in building analytical laboratory experience. Training is provided. Responsibilities Receive, inspect, label, log, store, retrieve, and route customer samples. Maintain accurate sample traceability and chain-of-custody records. Weigh, aliquot, dilute, bottle, separate, and otherwise prepare samples according to written SOPs. Prepare basic reagents and standards under supervision and documented procedures. Record work accurately in laboratory logs, bench sheets, notebooks, and computer systems. Wash glassware; clean and organize benches, tools, and work areas. Stock consumables, track inventory, and promptly report shortages. Perform routine equipment checks and basic calibrations after training. Assist laboratory staff with HPLC, LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, endotoxin, sterility, and microbiological workflows without independently interpreting or releasing results. Report sample discrepancies, spills, equipment problems, and unusual observations immediately. Follow SOPs, QA/QC requirements, the Chemical Hygiene Plan, waste-disposal rules, and PPE requirements. Required qualifications High school diploma or GED. Basic arithmetic and the ability to learn accurate weighing, measuring, pipetting, and dilution techniques. Strong attention to detail in labeling, documentation, and data entry. Ability to follow written SOPs, safety instructions, QA/QC procedures, and chain-of-custody requirements. Basic computer proficiency, including email and spreadsheet or data-entry tasks. Reliable attendance and availability for an on-site Monday-Friday schedule. Ability to wear required PPE and perform the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred qualifications High-school or college coursework in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or a related subject. Associate degree in a scientific field. Up to two years of experience in a laboratory, production, warehouse, manufacturing, or quality-control environment. Familiarity with balances, pipettes, sample preparation, LIMS, Microsoft Excel, GLP, ISO/IEC 17025, or inventory control. Schedule and compensation Full-time, hourly, non-exempt. 40 hours per week, primarily Monday-Friday during daytime laboratory hours. $20.00-$22.00 per hour, depending on relevant education and experience. Required safety equipment and PPE are provided. Overtime is paid as required by applicable law.
