Job Description
$5,000 Sign On Bonus!! This position requires travel to Gaylord, Le Sueur, and Winthrop Clinic locations as needed for staffing support. Purpose of Job This position is responsible for performing a variety of patient care related activities including assisting the providers. Duties include performing a variety of patient care activities including rooming patients, administration of medications and vaccines, specimen collection for diagnostic labs, completing prior authorizations for medication and diagnostic procedures, and patient care coordination. When performing nursing support functions 1. Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals and documents in EMR 2. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and scope of certification/licensure 3. Prepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing and treatment of patients 4. Performs room turn over in patient rooms between cases and at the end of day 5. Assists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary 6. Assists with patient education 7. Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Education/Work Experience/License/Certifications Graduation from Medical Assisting program or School of Practical Nursing Current LPN Licensure or current Medical Assistant Current CPR certification Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities Ability to multi-task Ability to serve patients in a friendly and efficient manner Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications Ability to work autonomously and as a team Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above Job Functions When performing nursing support functions Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals and documents in EMR Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and scope of certification/licensure Prepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing and treatment of patients Performs room turn over in patient rooms between cases and at the end of day Assists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary Assists with patient education Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Education/Work Experience/License/Certifications Graduation from Medical Assisting program or School of Practical Nursing Graduate of clinical laboratory program and/or ability to display and complete job competencies Current LPN Licensure or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Assistant (RMA) (LPNs/MAs will have 1 year to become certified in order to maintain employment) Current CPR certification Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities Ability to multi-task Ability to serve patients in a friendly and efficient manner Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications Ability to work autonomously and as a team Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above Preferred Qualifications EMR experience Previous nursing / medical assistant experience Link to Employee Health Physical Demands Compensation Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation such as: the requirements of the position, experience, education, knowledge, and skills along with location and internal equity.
