As an LPN on Mercy's 6 Surgical unit, you will deliver compassionate bedside care to post-operative and medical-surgical patients. Working closely with RNs, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team, you'll perform focused assessments, monitor vital signs, provide wound care, administer medications, and support early mobility and recovery. You'll educate patients and families on procedures and discharge plans while documenting accurately in the EMR. Responsibilities Provide direct bedside nursing care to post-operative and medical-surgical patients on the 6 Surgical unit Perform focused patient assessments and monitor vital signs, reporting changes to the RN and provider team Administer medications and treatments safely, following Mercy policies and regulatory standards Perform wound care, dressing changes, and assist with post-operative recovery and early mobility Document care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) Educate patients and families on procedures, medications, and discharge instructions to support recovery at home Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans Maintain infection control, safety, and quality standards in all aspects of patient care Support unit workflows, including admissions, transfers, and discharges, to ensure efficient patient throughput Participate in ongoing education, skills training, and quality initiatives to enhance clinical competence and patient outcomes Required Skills Patient assessment Vital signs monitoring Wound care and dressing changes Medication administration Post-operative care Electronic Medical Records (EMR) documentation Patient and family education Infection control practices IV management Care coordination and teamwork
