Summary:
To work as a nurse at Sunshine, you must have a strong interest in providing nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities that supports our mission: to create community among people with developmental disabilities, their families, friends, and staff
Responsibilities:
Act as a representative for Sunshine and the nursing department Consults with physician, consultants and other clinical and medical professionals regarding individual medical plans and treatments under the guidance of the DON and ADON Provides consistent, high quality medical care to individuals of Sunshine, to include the dispensing of medications and IV therapies as permitted by practice act and policy Prepares, dispenses, administers and documents on medications in a safe, organized manner as permitted by practice act and outlined in Nursing Policies and Procedures Maintains adequate daily records for the following: a) treatments; b) unusual incidents; c) daily running report; d) BM charts - check of suppositories and enemas as needed Delivers and administer treatments where needed, as scheduled, documenting the results seen Makes emergency medical decisions and adequately carries them out Assists in emergencies, and provides services in other units as needed Reports trends or patterns and all unusual occurrences to the Nursing Leadership Provides education and mentoring to individuals, staff and families with instructions provided by Nursing Leadership and/or the Physician Manages orders for medication, medication storage, medical supplies and equipment for individuals while maintaining a clean and organized areas Participates daily in report to and from the floor nurse Participates in Medicaid Documentation as directed and both Medicaid and Licensure surveys as scheduled Follow all Federal, State and organizational regulations and policies. Does filing as necessary Other duties as assigned Expected to regularly work in all areas as assigned in addition to duties listed above.
Qualifications:
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the State of Ohio Valid Drivers License, good driving record and proof of auto insurance Pass criminal background, drug screen, physical & PT assessment Able to lift 50 lbs. 18 years or older
