Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Mainly Back Office Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. This vital role focuses on supporting clinical operations through comprehensive administrative and back-office duties, ensuring smooth patient flow and accurate medical documentation. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in medical office management, excellent patient service skills, and familiarity with various medical specialties including dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, and emergency medicine. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment while honing your expertise across diverse medical settings. Responsibilities Manage patient intake processes, including collecting vital signs, updating medical histories, and verifying insurance information using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Assist with clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, medication administration, and X-ray preparation under supervision. Support physicians and nurses by preparing exam rooms, handling medical documentation, and ensuring accurate coding of diagnoses using ICD coding standards. Maintain meticulous medical records, including documentation of patient interactions, test results, and treatment plans in EMR/EHR platforms. Coordinate appointment scheduling, follow-up visits, and referrals to ensure seamless patient flow within outpatient or inpatient settings. Perform basic life support (BLS) procedures when necessary and assist with emergency protocols in hospital or urgent care environments. Support hospital medicine or trauma center teams by managing inpatient records, assisting with patient transfers, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in specialties such as geriatrics, internal medicine, or surgical units to facilitate effective patient care delivery. Requirements Proven experience working in a medical office environment with familiarity in medical administrative support and clinical assistance roles. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and ICD coding practices. Experience with EMR/EHR systems for electronic health records management; proficiency in data entry and documentation is essential. Certification in basic life support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are preferred. Inpatient or outpatient experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable. Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism while maintaining attention to detail.
