GED Medical Assisting Certified Medical Assistant Full Job Description Job Summary:
Assists physicians, nurses, and other medical staff by performing administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, prepping charts, and maintaining medical records. Works with other areas in the practice to assure that the physician and staff work together as a team to provide a continuum of health care needs. In addition, the position assignments and scheduled hours may vary to provide quality health care.
Education & Experience:
High school graduate or GED. Completion of accredited medical assisting course and minimum three years' experience in a physician office or medical clinic setting preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills with the flexibility to work on multiple tasks at one time. Able to communicate with patients and staff. Able to obtain pertinent information to effectively schedule new patients as well as follow-up appointments as needed. Proficient in medication refills and assisting the triage and scheduling team with returning phone calls under the direct supervision of a physician.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a physician office environment. Involves developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, patients, and the public. Communications may involve dealing with difficult, persistent, or upset people. Requires full range of body motion including, but not limited to, bending, lifting, finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing, walking and /or sitting for extended periods of time along with the potential for irregular hours.
