Job Description

Desert Peaks Health Care is dedicated to serving our community with individualized, evidence based, compassionate and comprehensive primary care. The position of medical assistant is expected to have the highest possible integrity and attention to detail. Professionalism at all times is critical to patient care and satisfactory relationships with the community we serve. This position reports to the office manager and is expected to be on site Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 7:00am to 5:30pm. Hours are subject to change upon mutual agreement of the employee and management. Job expectations Welcome patients and visitors, via telephone and in person; answer questions and or refer inquiries Retrieve patient records Help patients in distress by appropriately responding to emergencies (response depends on training and skills) Protect patient's rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information Contribute to team effort flexibility to fulfill other duties as requested Record billing information; complete insurance forms; responding to insurance and other third-party inquiries Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures Prepare patient for healthcare visit by accompanying them to exam room; review and/or record medical history, take vital signs Support patient care by helping providers during examinations, prepare laboratory specimens; perform basic laboratory tests on premises; perform injections and electrocardiograms Authorize drug refills per protocol
