Founding Medical Director - Psychiatrist Independent Contractor ABC Community Healthcare, Inc. El Paso, Texas Build the Future of Integrated Healthcare Along the Border ABC Community Healthcare, Inc. is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Psychiatrist to serve as its Founding Medical Director. This independent contractor position offers the opportunity to provide clinical leadership while helping establish an integrated behavioral health and primary care organization serving underserved communities throughout West Texas and the U.S.-Mexico Border Region.   • Hybrid / Remote administrative work with periodic on-site presence in El Paso, Texas Position Summary The Founding Medical Director serves as the organization's senior clinical leader for behavioral health services.
The Medical Director provides psychiatric oversight, clinical consultation, quality assurance, and strategic guidance while collaborating with executive leadership to develop an integrated behavioral health program. Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide psychiatric and medical oversight for outpatient behavioral health services.
  • Develop, review, and approve clinical policies, medical protocols, and standards of care.
  • Provide consultation regarding psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and behavioral health treatment.
  • Provide medical oversight to the Registered Nurse (BSN), Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist, and Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) within their respective scopes of practice.
  • Participate in quality assurance, peer review, and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Assist with regulatory compliance and clinical program development.
  • Support implementation of integrated behavioral health and primary care services.
  • Participate in periodic leadership and quality meetings. Minimum QualificationsRequired
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
  • Eligible for unrestricted Texas medical licensure.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Experience providing psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Preferred
  • Experience treating Substance Use Disorders.
  • Experience prescribing medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD), including buprenorphine and naltrexone.
  • Community Mental Health or Integrated Behavioral Health experience.
  • Leadership or Medical Director experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Compensation Competitive monthly retainer based on experience and scope of services. Additional compensation may be negotiated for services beyond the contracted monthly commitment.
