Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities Answer telephone. Gives information about the practice within the limits of practice policy. Routes clinical questions and emergency calls to clinical staff or physician(s) according to established policy. Schedules patient appointments. Greets all incoming patients. Obtains new patient information for all new patients and input into Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Verifies address, telephone, and any other desired information with repeat patients for currency and updating patient record (including computer record if appropriate) as necessary. Responsible for conducting interviews for financial assistance. Verifies the correct procedure has been followed for new patient record. At end of day, print out reports to balance the day's business. Completes daily bank deposits and mails business to the administrative office. Responsible for blocking physician schedule on the computer to accommodate various medical and staff meetings. Responsible for printing doctors schedules on a daily basis. Responsible for tracking mammograms and pap smears. Responsible for maintaining and organizing the daily huddle book. If bilingual will serve as an interpreter. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with HIPAA guidelines. Complies with OSHA regulations. Position Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Word processing and computer experience desired. One year experience preferably in a medical office setting. Knowledge of business office procedures, knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type patient information. Skill in operating a computer and photocopy machine. Skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction. Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems. Ability to establish or maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
