Description We are looking for a Medical Front Desk Specialist to support patient-facing operations at a healthcare site in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who brings strong administrative skills, a service-minded approach, and confidence working in a fast-paced clinical setting. In this role, you will help create a welcoming experience for patients while coordinating registration, scheduling, and accurate record maintenance through an electronic health record platform.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and visitors professionally, providing helpful guidance and ensuring a positive front desk experience.
- Manage patient check-in and registration activities, confirming demographic details and collecting required information accurately.
- Coordinate appointment scheduling and make updates or changes as needed to support daily clinic operations.
- Answer and direct incoming calls on a multi-line phone system while responding to routine questions with professionalism and care.
- Verify insurance information and assist with resolving basic coverage or registration-related issues before appointments.
- Maintain patient documentation within the electronic health record system, ensuring records remain complete, accurate, and confidential.
- Address patient concerns at the front desk or by phone and escalate issues appropriately when additional support is needed.
- Support central registration functions across clinic locations while following established operational and privacy standards.
- Work assigned clinic hours, including one late evening shift each week, to meet patient access needs. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least two years of experience in customer service, front desk support, or administrative work is required.
- A minimum of one year of hands-on experience using an electronic health record system is required.
- Familiarity with medical registration, appointment coordination, and front desk workflows in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Experience verifying medical insurance and handling related patient inquiries is preferred.
- Ability to manage a multi-line phone system while maintaining accuracy and professionalism is required.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to safeguard confidential patient information are required.
- Experience with NextGen is strongly preferred.
