Hours:
10pm-6am We are seeking a dedicated and attentive Overnight Recovery Support Specialist to provide awake overnight support in a calm, safe, and respectful recovery residence. You will monitor resident safety and well-being, respond compassionately when support is needed, complete safety and environmental checks, document the shift, and help prepare the house for a consistent morning transition. This vital role requires sound judgment, emotional steadiness, and the ability to respond effectively to behavioral or mental health concerns during overnight hours. This is a strong entry-level opportunity for someone with a bachelor's degree who wants to begin working in behavioral health, gain meaningful hands-on experience, or explore a future graduate degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field. About The Recovery Collective The Recovery Collective is a supportive recovery residence for adult men who benefit from additional structure, mental health support, accountability, and individualized guidance. Residents may be navigating mental health challenges, substance use recovery, autism spectrum disorder or other neurodevelopmental needs, and major life transitions. Our team helps residents build daily structure, practical skills, community connection, and momentum toward stable, meaningful lives. What you will do
  • Remain awake, alert, and available throughout the entire overnight shift.
  • Maintain a calm, safe, and quiet environment while providing respectful support when residents need assistance.
  • Conduct frequent scheduled and as-needed check-ins with residents and complete safety and environmental checks while respecting resident privacy and quiet hours.
  • Monitor adherence to curfew, visitor, quiet-hour, and other overnight expectations and document exceptions objectively.
  • Respond promptly to emotional distress, suspected substance use or relapse, safety concerns, unauthorized absences, conflict, or urgent situations using de-escalation, crisis-intervention, and established emergency procedures within the role's training and scope.
  • Notify the on-call supervisor, emergency services, or other authorized contacts when required.
  • Complete timely overnight shift notes, safety logs, behavioral observations, incident reports, assigned medication-storage or self-administration logs, and morning handoff communication in the electronic health record while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Provide non-clinical reminders for residents to take prescribed medications according to their individual self-administration plans and complete required reminder or self-administration documentation. Staff do not administer medication.
  • Follow individualized resident goals and support plans within the role and communicate changes in behavior, functioning, or safety to the on-call supervisor and care team.
  • Collaborate through clear handoffs and authorized communication with the Program Director, coaches, therapists, psychiatrists, social workers, family members, and other providers.
  • Complete approved household tasks that do not interfere with supervision, including tidying shared areas, organizing supplies, and preparing for morning routines.
  • Support residents who wake early while maintaining appropriate boundaries and avoiding disruption to others. Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, behavioral science, human services, or a related field.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Calm, respectful, and effective communication during conflict, emotional distress, or unexpected situations.
  • Strong observation, documentation, organization, and follow-through skills.
  • Reliable judgment and the ability to follow policies, safety procedures, and escalation protocols.
  • Working knowledge of mental health support, trauma-informed care, crisis prevention, de-escalation, and positive behavior-support practices.
  • Ability to collect objective behavioral information, write clear progress notes, and maintain accurate electronic health records in accordance with HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills for resident engagement, shift handoffs, and collaboration with team members, families, and outside providers as authorized.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification and Narcan training, or willingness to complete required training promptly after hire.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance when driving is part of an assigned shift.
  • Ability to pass required background and employment screening.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and sustain attention during awake overnight hours. Helpful experience
  • Behavioral health, mental health, substance use recovery, sober living, residential care, case management, or another human-services setting.
  • Supporting adults with autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, or other neurodevelopmental needs.
  • Experience supporting adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use needs.
  • Familiarity with PTSD-informed, person-centered, recovery-oriented, and positive behavior-support approaches.
Prior professional experience is helpful but not required. We are looking for someone dependable, grounded, curious, and ready to learn. Schedule and work expectations Applicants must be available for an awake 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. shift, including weekends and holidays as scheduled. Sleeping during the shift is not permitted. Schedules may vary based on resident needs and house occupancy. Team members working 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for benefits according to current company policy and applicable law. This is a non-clinical support position. Employees do not provide therapy, diagnose conditions, administer medication, perform medical assessments, or independently develop clinical treatment plans. Team members must maintain resident confidentiality, professional boundaries, accurate documentation, and consistent communication with the Program Director and care team. Required staff meetings, supervision, case consultation, and training are part of the role. Why join TRC? Join an experienced behavioral-health and therapeutic-coaching team while gaining direct experience in a real-world recovery environment. You will build practical skills relevant to future graduate study and careers in counseling, social work, psychology, case management, or recovery services while helping residents build stability and independence.
