Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Exciting contract opportunities are available for skilled Paraprofessionals near Bayonne, NJ, with three full-time positions open immediately through June 22, 2027. Candidates will play an essential role within a supportive educational environment, with options to extend through the ESY program during July and August 2027. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, 8:25am to 2:25pm, totaling 30 hours each week.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and assist assigned students throughout the school day, including arrival, breakfast, classroom activities, group sessions, specials, lunch, recess, transitions, field trips, and dismissal. Provide instructional support under the direction of classroom teachers—prompting, redirecting, organizing tasks, promoting accommodations, and fostering student independence. Implement students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), behavior and safety plans, and reinforcement or break systems as designed. Encourage emotional regulation using established techniques, including Ukeru, CBI, and recognized de-escalation strategies. Monitor student safety, behavior, peer interactions, and recognize triggers that may warrant intervention. Collaborate with mental health teams, clinicians, administrators, or crisis support when a student's needs surpass routine 1:1 assistance. Diligently gather and report academic and behavioral data to inform teachers and clinical staff. Uphold strict student confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times. Provide continuous student supervision during common planning periods unless alternate coverage has been arranged.

Ideal Background:

Prior experience working with children in educational or behavioral support settings preferred. Knowledge of special education practices and behavioral intervention techniques is a plus.
