Contract Summary:
The Alternative Placement Program Student Aide assists the students in the classroom with all instructional materials and helps the students with needs outside of the classroom, but related to achieving needed skills and requirements for succeeding in school.
Essential Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities:
Duties may be modified, or additional duties may be assigned.
  • Assists with all functions related to the daily routines and procedures and assures that all matters related to the daily operation of the program are performed.
  • Assist with students' behavioral intervention plans as well as their communication needs.
  • Assists the Teacher with students regarding issues specific to their behaviors and provides strategies that can be employed the next time a similar situation occurs.
  • Uses the behavioral management system in place to redirect students and/or correct inappropriate behavior.
  • Have integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
  • Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, and parents.
  • Assist students with daily living tasks such as toileting, personal hygiene, and eating.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and other professional information. Mechanical, Technical Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, Experience
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Training in the Ukeru behavioral management system preferred.
  • Must possess good verbal communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • Must be approachable and available to the teacher.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with students and families.
  • Must be patient and persistent. Possess the ability to remain focused and calm and have the ability to inspire and motivate.
  • Must have the ability to be spontaneously creative when working with students and provide positive redirection to undesired behaviors. Ability to maintain confidential information, display good judgment, and respond to emergencies or difficult situations.
  • Must have self-confidence, good judgement, and attention to detail.
  • Must maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Maintains all safety protocols and ensures the student area is clean and sanitized per policy and procedure.

$22.00
