POSITION OVERVIEW
The Overnight Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, structured, and supportive environment for residents throughout the overnight shift. The Overnight BHT provides continuous resident supervision, completes required wellness checks, monitors resident activity, maintains facility safety and security, responds appropriately to resident needs and emergencies, completes required documentation, and communicates important information to the incoming Day Shift BHT Lead. The Overnight BHT is expected to remain alert, professional, and engaged throughout the entire shift. Overnight hours are not considered personal or inactive time. Staff are responsible for maintaining active awareness of residents and the facility at all times. The BHT works within the scope of their training and position and communicates clinical, medical, behavioral, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor or qualified staff member.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Overnight BHT is responsible for: Maintaining resident safety throughout the overnight shift. Completing scheduled wellness checks. Monitoring assigned hallways and common areas. Maintaining appropriate resident supervision. Monitoring resident movement and activity. Responding appropriately to resident requests and concerns. Maintaining facility security. Completing accurate and timely documentation. Monitoring room temperatures as required. Ensuring assigned areas remain clean, safe, and orderly. Monitoring for unauthorized activity, contraband, or safety hazards. Responding to emergencies according to HOPESS procedures. Communicating significant events to the BHT Lead or appropriate supervisor. Preparing an accurate shift handoff for the Day Shift.
OVERNIGHT RESIDENT SUPERVISION
The Overnight BHT shall maintain appropriate supervision of residents throughout the shift.
Responsibilities include:
Monitoring residents according to HOPESS policy. Maintaining awareness of resident locations. Conducting required wellness checks. Monitoring common areas. Responding to resident needs. Addressing minor concerns within the scope of the BHT role. Notifying appropriate staff of significant concerns. Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Promoting a quiet and safe overnight environment.
