As the primary support staff during evening and night hours, you will monitor clients undergoing withdrawal, ensure adherence to treatment protocols, and maintain a calm, structured environment that promotes healing. This position is ideal for individuals who are dependable, observant, and comfortable working independently while still collaborating with clinical supervisors and medical staff. Night BHTs help ensure clients remain safe, supported, and engaged throughout their detox stay. Duties Monitor clients throughout the night to ensure safety during detox, including regular wellness checks and documentation. Observe and report withdrawal symptoms, behavioral changes, and any safety concerns to nursing and clinical staff. Support clients in crisis using de‑escalation techniques, grounding strategies, and trauma‑informed communication. Maintain a calm, structured environment that promotes rest, stability, and emotional regulation during overnight hours. Document all client interactions, observations, incidents, and progress notes accurately and in real time. Assist with intake and discharge procedures when clients arrive or leave during evening/night hours. Ensure facility safety by conducting routine room checks, contraband searches, and environmental walkthroughs. Provide basic daily‑living assistance, including snacks, hydration reminders, linens, and comfort measures. Respond to medical or behavioral emergencies promptly and follow established emergency procedures. Maintain confidentiality and uphold HIPAA standards at all times. Collaborate with clinical and medical teams to ensure continuity of care across shifts. Model professionalism, empathy, and consistent boundaries with all clients. Experience Experience in behavioral health, detox, residential treatment, or crisis settings preferred but not required — training provided. Prior overnight or shift‑work experience strongly valued due to the nature of nighttime detox operations. Knowledge of addiction counseling principles and experience supporting clients with substance use disorders is a plus. Familiarity with crisis management techniques, crisis intervention strategies, and de-escalation methods in behavioral health settings. Background in special education or social work that involves client communication and behavior intervention planning. Experience in documentation, charting, or client observation logs helpful. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) management systems along with understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality and accurate documentation. Customer service, caregiving, or community support experience also considered relevant for entry‑level candidates. CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
