Summary:

A Residential Counselor (RC) in a group home provides daily care, supervision, and supportive guidance to residents with mental health challenges, developmental disabilities, or behavioral needs. RC's work directly with residents in four-to-one settings, providing support for daily activities and enforcing community rul to help build life skills and maintain a safe home.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Post-Secondary School Diploma required, University degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
• Six-month experience in Mental Health or Behavioral Health Field.
• Valid driver's license.
• Current CPR, First Aid, and medication administration certifications. (preferred)
• Proficient in software applications (i.e. Microsoft, QuickMar, etc.)
• Proven ability to organize, evaluate, communicate and present information, both verbally and written
• Knowledge of DBHDS standards. (preferred)
• Ability to be flexible.
• Skill pertaining to the individual documentation process.

Physical Requirements:

• Maintaining high alertness and fast physical reaction times during emotional or behavioral emergencies.
• Responding to aggressive or self-injurious behavior by using approved crisis de-escalation techniques.
• Ability to spend shift on your feet during monitoring, cooking, cleaning, and facility rounds.
• Requires light and/or heaving lifting, repetitive bending, sight, hearing, and ability to move with ease.

Pay:

$15.00 - $17.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 14.0 per week
