Position Summary The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a key role in supporting the safety, structure, and therapeutic environment of our adult residential psychiatric treatment program. BHTs work directly with residents throughout the day, providing compassionate support, modeling healthy communication, and reinforcing therapeutic skills. This position is ideal for individuals who are grounded, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, trauma‑informed clinical setting. Key Responsibilities Provide continuous supervision to ensure resident safety, emotional stability, and adherence to program guidelines. Support residents in daily routines, including groups, meals, activities, and transitions throughout the schedule. Offer grounding, redirection, and emotional support using trauma‑informed approaches. Document observations, behaviors, and interventions in accordance with program standards. Collaborate with nursing, therapists, and leadership to maintain a cohesive, supportive treatment environment. Facilitate or assist with therapeutic groups, community meetings, and skill‑building activities as assigned. Conduct safety checks, environmental rounds, and crisis‑prevention interventions. Model healthy boundaries, communication, and coping strategies. Support new admissions with orientation, room setup, and acclimation to the program. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct at all times. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field preferred. Experience in behavioral health, crisis stabilization, residential treatment, or related direct‑care roles strongly preferred. Ability to remain calm, grounded, and effective in high‑acuity situations. Strong communication skills and comfort working within a multidisciplinary team. Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and provide supportive, non‑judgmental care. Must be able to pass background checks and meet all regulatory requirements. Physical & Environmental Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and engage in resident support for extended periods. Ability to respond quickly to emergent situations. Comfortable working in a structured, therapeutic residential environment.
