Job Summary:
The Certified Nurse Midwife position provides antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, neonatal and intraconceptional care in accordance with written midwifery protocols, which have been approved by the institutions Medical Board, Mid-level Practitioner Section; Department of OB/GYN. The Midwife will provide services in Lakewood and Tom's River practices as well as Community Medical Center. Schedule 12-24 hour hospital on-call coverage 8 hour office coverage
Facility Hours of Operation:
8:30a-5p Monday - Thursday 7:30a-4p
Friday Essential Functions:
Assess the status of the patient, develop and implement a plan of care with the patient during the prenatal, intrapartal, postpartal, neonatal, and intraconceptional period Establishes a complete data base concerning the patient through history taken, physical examinations, and appropriate laboratory data Maintains the qualifications for full credentialing on the medical staff as a Certified Nurse Midwife, including participation in continuing Educational programs Manages patient labor, including delivery of newborn, utilizing medication and performing procedures Performs all other duties as assigned Plans and provides health care for women Provides contraceptive guidance Provides immediate and follow-up care of the newborn infant, including ongoing assessment and follow-up with postpartum family Provides patient education relevant to the obstetrical patient's health care Seeks medical consultations for patients with deviations from standard guidelines; performs ongoing review of care, including evaluation, and documentation in the medical record Works closely with nursing and attending staff and shall ensure a productive, cordial atmosphere conducive to quality patient care
Job Requirements:
Current New Jersey licensure as a Certified Nurse Midwife required; current New Jersey licensure as a Registered Nurse required BSN and MSN in nurse-midwifery from an accredited program required BLS and NRP certifications required Must meet all Medical Staff requirements for credentialing and being approved by Mid-level Practitioner Section Credentialing Committee
