A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is strongly preferred, as is prior patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. About the

Unit:

2 West

  • Medical Behavioral Specialty Unit 18-bed inpatient unit 2 West is a specialized Medical Behavioral Specialty Unit caring for patients with both acute medical conditions and coexisting psychiatric or behavioral health diagnoses.

The interdisciplinary team provides comprehensive medical care while utilizing trauma-informed approaches, behavioral health interventions, and evidence-based de-escalation techniques to safely manage patients with complex psychosocial and psychiatric needs. In addition to registered nurses and patient care technicians, the unit includes dedicated Mental Health Associates who partner with the nursing team to support patients' behavioral health needs. The department also works closely with a Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison service, ensuring coordinated management of psychiatric conditions alongside medical treatment. As a telemetry-capable unit, all registered nurses receive training in basic dysrhythmia recognition and continuous cardiac monitoring while developing expertise in caring for medically complex patients with behavioral health comorbidities.
