EHRA Primary Purpose of Position The primary purpose of this position is to provide psychiatric care to the students of the university community. This entails providing psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis and treatment of mental and emotional disorders, and medical assessments for students, as well as prescribing medications and monitoring their use in a therapeutic setting. Provide psychiatric emergency intervention as needed. Consult and collaborate with the clinical staff of The Counseling Center, as well as the Medical Clinic staff to provide appropriate, collaborative care for students. Facilitate the processing of both voluntary and involuntary hospitalizations. Become familiar with and utilize referral sources within the University and external community Primary Function of Organizational Unit The mission of Student Health Center is to provide physical, psychological, environmental and wellness services to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University students, facility, and staff. Minimum Requirements Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina, or a multistate RN license/privilege recognized by North Carolina. Completion of a graduate-level Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program (MSN, post-graduate certificate, or DNP) from a nationally accredited program. Current Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-Board Certified (PMHNP-BC) certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or eligibility for certification if the position permits a new graduate. Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education 1-3 years of experience providing psychiatric/mental health care, preferably in a college/university, outpatient behavioral health, community mental health, or integrated healthcare setting. Experience with young adults and emerging adults, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-related conditions, mood disorders, and other common psychiatric conditions. Experience providing psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, medication management, and follow-up care. Experience collaborating with counselors, psychologists, primary care providers, social workers, and other members of an interdisciplinary team. Knowledge of college student mental health, crisis assessment, suicide risk assessment, and safety planning. Familiarity with HIPAA, FERPA, and confidentiality requirements in a college health environment. Required License or Certification Licensure in the State of North Carolina as a (Psychiatric) Nurse Practitioner, Master's Degree (required) with higher education preferred. DEA license.
