Full Job Description Medical Nurse Practitioner Qualifications:
  • Medical Doctor (MD)
  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Current Active Nurse Practitioner License
  • Previous clinical experience in nursing or related medical fields required
  • Experience in substance use treatment
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and equipment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with patients
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment Medical license must be in good standing with the state of New Mexico
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have legal right to work in the United States
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English
  • Must be willing to participate in pre-employment screening and drug screen
  • Must be available to work Mon-Fri onsite 12-5pm up to 20hrs a week.

Understands Substance Use Disorders. Recognizes the complex context of substance abuse. Understands co-occurring Mental Health disorders and impact on treatment. Practices with a cultural competence approach to individuals. 2. Clinical Skills Needed for
Position:
Knowledge of general medical conditions, able to discuss courses and prognosis. Ability to utilize health care delivery systems, including patient and family counseling. Utilizes evidence-based practice. Has a working knowledge of the application of ethical principles in delivering medical care. 3.
Person-centered Plan Development :
Practices the application of Person-Centered planning in an individualized manner with consideration to each patient as an individual receiving treatment. Has a working knowledge of general medical conditions, including considerations relating to age, gender, race, and ethnicity, based on the literature and standards of practice. This knowledge shall include a. The epidemiology of the disorder b. The etiology of the disorder, including medical, genetic, and sociocultural factors c. The phenomenology of the disorder d. An understanding of the impact of physical illness on the patient's functioning e. The experience, meaning, and explanation of the illness for the patient and family, including the influence of cultural factors and culture-bound syndromes f. Effective treatment strategies g. Course and prognosis 4.
Interviewing Skills:
Patient interviewing and evaluation to obtain Personal and Family Medical History, Current symptoms, Identifying personal mental, emotional and physical risk factors. 5.
Evidence Based Practices:
Knowledge and clinical application of EBP to assess, develop, and monitor the treatment of individuals within their care. 6.
Clinical Risk Factors:
Ability to comprehensively assess and document a patient's potential for self-harm or harm to others. This shall include a.) An assessment of risk b.) Knowledge of involuntary treatment standards and procedures c.) Ability to intervene effectively to minimize risk d.) Ability to implement prevention methods against self-harm and harm to others taking whatever steps possible to mitigate risk of self-harm and harm to others in a trauma-informed approach.
Position Duties:
1. Provide direst patient care to individuals with acute and chronic medical conditions 2. Conduct medical assessments and establish appropriate diagnosis 3. Provide medical care to clients receiving treatment. This care will include primary medical and preventative care 4. Provide medication management, assisting in the oversight, titration, and cessation of medications. 5. Order lab tests and interpret the test results 6. Respond to patients' medical problems by referring to their history, carrying out diagnosis, treatment, counseling, and referral, where necessary. 7. Provides oversight to the Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician and Registered Nurse as needed 8. Prescribe medications as necessary and monitor their effectiveness for titration and cessation as necessary. 9. Coordinate with healthcare professionals when hospitalization is required 10. Research medical issues and new medical treatments to update your knowledge on health care as needed 11. Participates in Multi-Disciplinary Team approach utilizing and reviewing all Evidence Based Practice models applied and prescribed

1. Carry out other responsibilities as delegated. 2. DEPENDABILITY-Strong observation skills to accurately evaluate patients' demeanor and identify symptoms, provides clinical integrity to staff and program. Ability to remain calm, empathetic and patient while interacting with patients who suffer from severe mental disorders/addiction 3.

PUNCTUALITY-Is prompt and on time for work, assignments and meetings. Notifies supervisor prior to lateness or absence. Understands that excess absences pose a hardship on other employees. 4.
JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • An in-depth knowledge of evidenced based practices and current medical treatment methods.
Experience working with Co-Occurring Substance Abuse and Mental Health disorders. 5. Employee works cooperatively with other community resources and referral sources to coordinate services to clients. 6.
