Job Description

Overview Specialty Care House Calls (SCHC) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our growing mobile specialty care team in Reno, Nevada. This position focuses on providing hands-on, procedure-based specialty care directly to patients in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and private residences throughout the Reno area. Our providers perform services including ear care, foot and nail care, skin assessments, skin checks, and basic wound care , primarily serving adult and geriatric populations. This is an excellent opportunity for a provider seeking a non-traditional clinical environment with greater autonomy, flexibility, and meaningful one-on-one patient interaction . The position may be especially appealing to providers looking for a flexible, lower-stress alternative to a traditional clinic or hospital setting.
Please Note:
This is not a primary care position. SCHC does not manage traditional primary care panels or provide routine chronic disease management as the primary focus of this role. Responsibilities Perform focused patient assessments and physical examinations related to specialty services Provide foot and nail care , including routine trimming, maintenance, and management of common foot and nail concerns Perform ear care procedures , including cerumen removal and related treatments Conduct skin assessments and skin checks and identify common dermatologic concerns within the provider's scope of practice Provide basic wound care and skin management when appropriate Travel between skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and private residences throughout the Reno area Communicate and collaborate with facility staff, caregivers, and other members of the patient's healthcare team Provide clear patient and caregiver education related to treatment and follow-up care Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant documentation using electronic health records Manage an independent mobile schedule while maintaining high standards of patient care Exercise strong clinical judgment in a field-based environment Qualifications Active Nevada Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license , or ability to obtain Nevada licensure prior to starting Current prescriptive authority and applicable credentials required to practice Current BLS/CPR certification ACLS certification preferred Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Strong clinical assessment and independent decision-making skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with adult and geriatric patients Comfortable performing hands-on procedures in a mobile healthcare setting Ability to travel between patient homes and healthcare facilities throughout the Reno area Comfortable working independently while maintaining communication with the broader care team Preferred Experience Experience in any of the following areas is helpful but not required: Dermatology Wound care Podiatry or foot care Ear or audiology-related care Geriatrics Long-term care Skilled nursing facilities Assisted living Home-based or mobile healthcare Electronic health record systems Providers with strong clinical skills who are willing to learn our specialty care model are encouraged to apply.
