Overview We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Transport Driver-CNA Backup to support our transportation services, ensuring safe and efficient movement of passengers, including children and seniors. Responsibilities Safely operate transportation vehicles such as buses, vans, or specialized transit vehicles in accordance with traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, providing wheelchair assistance and ensuring passenger comfort throughout the journey. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR, first aid, and emergency stop procedures. Maintain vehicle cleanliness, perform routine mechanical checks, and report any maintenance issues promptly to ensure vehicle safety. Adhere to school policies or organizational guidelines related to student discipline, behavior management, and passenger safety protocols. Respond quickly and effectively to traffic changes or route adjustments to ensure timely arrivals and departures. Communicate clearly with passengers, team members, and supervisors using effective language skills; bilingual abilities are a plus. Demonstrate knowledge of child care or senior care requirements when transporting vulnerable populations. Comply with all state and local commercial driving laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations at all times. Support the team by stepping into CNA backup duties as needed, providing compassionate care or assistance during transit. Skills Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, transit bus operation, or van driving within a commercial or organizational setting. Strong knowledge of traffic laws, transportation safety regulations, and emergency response procedures for transportation environments. Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for passenger assistance or vehicle maintenance tasks. Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities enhance service delivery. Familiarity with student discipline policies, behavior management techniques, and childcare or senior care practices. Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle troubleshooting and maintenance awareness. Defensive driving skills combined with quick response capabilities to traffic changes or unexpected road conditions. Knowledge of wheelchair assistance procedures and paratransit services to accommodate passengers with mobility needs. Ability to handle stressful situations calmly while maintaining high standards of customer service and passenger safety.
