  • dressing, bathing, hygiene, locomotion, ambulation, toileting, transfer, assistance with feeding
  • under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with facility policies and procedures and report resident needs and concerns to a licensed nurse.
II. Job Functions Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures. Complete assignments and documentation timely, completely, and accurately. Conduct resident rounds as assigned. Initiate corrective action as necessary and/or seek assistance from a licensed nurse. Document incidents and/or unusual problems according to established facility procedures. Participate in the development of an individualized plan of care for assigned residents and in interdisciplinary meetings as assigned. Review care plans and perform nursing care as outlined. Document in the nursing assistant notes the care and treatment provided to the resident and the resident's response or lack of response to care provided. Report changes in residents' conditions to Charge Nurse or Nurse Supervisor. Follow facility procedures for admission, discharge, and transfer of residents. Listen to resident and family complaints and report problems to Charge Nurse. Assure residents have call lights at hand and answer call lights promptly. Assure residents are given adequate assistance with meals, nourishment, and transportation to meal service area(s). General Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrate Core Values and Non-Negotiable Behaviors as defined by the Artesia Christian Home. Adhere to and implement a person-centered, relationship-based approach to working with residents and their families. Follow established performance standards and perform duties according to nursing service policies and procedures. Complete and maintain training requirements related to dementia care, program philosophy and job description related training. Follow Residents' Rights and Confidentiality policies at all times. Employees are expected to follow Abuse and Exploitation Policies and Procedures at all times. Follow facility safety, emergency & disaster program. Observe infection control procedures. Assume accountability for data contained in the employees' handbook. Attend all staff meetings and in-service training programs, as assigned. Complete all Relias trainings, as assigned. Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor in a cooperative manner. III. Qualifications Must possess a current Certified Nursing Assistant license through the State of California. Must possess proficient written and oral communication skills in English. At least a high school diploma and experience working with the elderly are highly desirable. Must be willing and able to use the nursing department's electronic charting system. Must be in good physical and mental condition, capable of performing assigned tasks. Good health must be verified by a health screening performed by a licensed physician, including a chest X-ray or intradermal test for TB. Must be able to hear, talk, and have a clear vision with or without corrective lenses. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, push, pull, kneel, stoop, reach, grab, and move for at least 6
  • 8 hours and lift or exert force of up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to perform in a busy environment, subject to frequent interruptions, subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents and family members, subject to, but not limited to, falls, infectious diseases, substances, and odors. Must be willing to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
