A Nursing Assistant provides hospital and nursing home patients with basic care and assists them with daily activities. Helps patients with dressing, washing, and feeding. May perform basic medical care under the direction of a nurse or other medical professional. These roles typically require completion of a regional agency-approved training program in order to obtain a certification before practicing.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Create a supportive, comfortable environment Assist with phone calls and correspondence Engage in recreational activities and friendly conversation Run errands and supervise activities as directed (medication reminders, dressing, etc.) Transport clients to doctors, recreation, and activities Meal planning, preparation, and shopping Light housekeeping (laundry, vacuuming, dusting, changing linens, washing dishes and floors) Assist with personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and daily living activities Prepare and serve meals, monitor nutrition, and help with eating/drinking Provide medication reminders and assist with medical treatments as prescribed Transport clients to appointments and run errands Maintain a safe and clean environment Keep accurate care records and report changes in client condition Offer emotional support and companionship Assist with bathing and other activities of daily living Escort clients to medical appointments and errands
